The Eternal Bed fulfills a literal translation of a verse from of the Old Testament: "He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness" Isaiah 57:2.
If you can't imagine yourself or your loved one in a casket or the thought of being burned is unbearable then The Eternal Bed may be your alternative. How often have you overheard someone expressing how difficult it is to see their loved one in a casket? The casket industry has remained virtually unchanged in 50 years, and the image of a casket(with it's box/hinged lid design, gaudy adornments and funeral parlor upholstery) is a symbol of death and despair.
My invention "The Eternal Bed" was created as an alternative to burial caskets and to ease the suffering of the family. Without it's canopy, it is a bed in every sense of the word and gives the impression that the departed is sleeping or resting. During visitation services the canopy is stored out of the sight of the mourners and is placed at the time normally associated with the closing of the casket and can be performed by two funeral directors or by the pallbearers in minutes. It is designed to drop down over the bed and quickly fasten with special pins. The canopy is designed to snuggly fit over the bed and provides the protection afforded by any wood casket.
I have watched videos on tv and the internet on how caskets are mass produced in factories, and it seems impersonal and improper. The final resting place should not be mass produced or imported, but should be handmade by craftsmen who have a reverence for it's purpose and take pride in their work.
